Brady Paulson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rancho is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 11-15 otherwise. Paulson was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Julian Lopez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Dylan Layman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Southeast Career Tech and Del Sol, and Southeast Career Tech kept the tradition alive. The Roadrunners never let the Dragons get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Roadrunners, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Rancho, Southeast Career Tech also got a great game from a two-way player: Bruce Trzpis. On the mound, Trzpis pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Nathan Johnson tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Trzpis has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Trzpis went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI, while Johnson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs Trzpis has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Jaggers, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
Southeast Career Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Del Sol only posted an OBP of .062.
Southeast Career Tech's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Rancho, their record now sits at 15-16.
Rancho came out on top in a nail-biter against Southeast Career Tech when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Roadrunners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
