It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Martin Luther King Cougars can now relate to. They took a serious blow against the Generals on Thursday, falling 80-44. While losing is never fun, Martin Luther King can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 472nd, while Constitution is ranked 38th).
Martin Luther King lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Adrese Hill, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Makhai Robinson, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Constitution got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyree Latimer out in front who scored 23 points along with seven assists. Amir Speights was another key contributor, scoring 23 points.
Martin Luther King's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Constitution, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Martin Luther King does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Constitution, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Benjamin Franklin at 6:30 p.m. Constitution will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Benjamin Franklin surely won't give up without a fight.
