Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Midfield Patriots walked away with it. They took down the Wildcats 65-49 on Tuesday. Given Midfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Tarrant is ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Armonie Franklin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 assists. He has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaden Sellers, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Midfield's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Tarrant, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-13.
Midfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Childersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Midfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. Tarrant does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
