Davis Sr. pushed their score all the way to 58 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to Cosumnes Oaks. Davis Sr. has struggled against Cosumnes Oaks recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Elk Grove had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Pleasant Grove by a score of 67-58 on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Gonzales was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Noah Hargrave was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Davis Sr. has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Elk Grove, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-13.
Davis Sr. took their win against Elk Grove when the teams last played on January 10th by a conclusive 63-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Davis Sr. since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
