Basketball Recap: Norwood Skates Past Gainesville with Ease

Norwood lost to Gainesville back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Norwood Pirates took their match with ease, bagging a 74-38 win over the Gainesville Bulldogs. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 28 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Norwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Peyton McDaris, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. That's the most boards McDaris has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Carder Kelly, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 15 points.

Norwood's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2. As for Gainesville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norwood will host Fair Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gainesville, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Fordland at 7:30 p.m.
