After losing to Betsy Layne the last time they met, Floyd Central decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Floyd Central Jaguars came out on top against the Betsy Layne Bobcats by a score of 63-56 on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Jaguars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Floyd Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lucas Howard out in front who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Howard is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dylan Boyd, who posted 14 points.

Floyd Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Betsy Layne's also-impressive total of ten.

Betsy Layne's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Pente, who went 6-for-14 on his way to 22 points. Brayden Hall also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Floyd Central's record is now 12-18. As for Betsy Layne, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 18-10 record.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Floyd Central Jaguars duke it out with Martin County Cardinals at 8:15 p.m. on Monday. Floyd Central has given up an average of 70 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. Betsy Layne does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
