The New Knoxville Rangers lost against the Celina Bulldogs back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. New Knoxville was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 35-34 to Celina.
Despite the loss, New Knoxville saw an underclassman step up: Addi Albers dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her.
New Knoxville's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.1 points per game. As for Celina, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
New Knoxville will head out on the road to face off against Jackson Center at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Jackson Center presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than New Knoxville in Ohio (Jackson Center is ranked 199th, while New Knoxville is ranked 683rd). Celina will finish 2023 at home by hosting Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Heritage is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
