Softball Recap: Mitchell Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Mitchell had won three straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 18-5 to make it four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the River Ridge Royal Knights a 1-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted against the Royal Knights since March 22, 2022.

Not much got past Taylor Tucker, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep River Ridge off the board. Tucker has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mitchell's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brenna Rush, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for River Ridge, they now have a losing record of 10-11. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On River Ridge's side, not much got past Lilly Jackson, who gave up just seven hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Mitchell off the board.

Coming up, Mitchell is taking a road trip to take on Springstead at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 2.4, the Eagles 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for River Ridge, they will take on Countryside at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
