Enumclaw has gone 9-1 against White River recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. Enumclaw will head out on the road to challenge White River at 4:00 p.m. Enumclaw's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so White River's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Saturday, Enumclaw sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Tumwater. That's two games straight that the Hornets have won by just one run.
Carter Grant tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits.
On the hitting side, Enumclaw's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Juden Jones, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask White River). They put the hurt on Beamer with a sharp 19-1 victory on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hornets needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Kolton Jensen made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of White River's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Jensen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, White River got a massive performance out of Landon Hill, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that Hill brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Eric Garrison, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
White River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Enumclaw and bumps their season record up to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for White River, they moved to 4-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
White River's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Enumclaw has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for White River, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Enumclaw keep running through batters, or will White River buck the trend?
Enumclaw took their victory against White River when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-3 score. Will Enumclaw repeat their success, or does White River has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
