The John Henry Wildcats lost against the Mare Island Tech Academy Griffins two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. John Henry fell 49-39 to Mare Island Tech Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points John Henry has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, John Henry saw an underclassman step up: Cesar Melchor scored 15 points. Jonathan Magana was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds.
Mare Island Tech Academy found their leader in underclassman Osbourne Ferrer, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Puno, who scored 12 points.
John Henry's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mare Island Tech Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
John Henry will be playing at home against Griffin Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mare Island Tech Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
