The University Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a 93-89 hit to the loss column at the hands of Portola. University has not had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
University lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Shervin Moarrefian, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Moarrefian continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Savion Ruth, who scored 21 points along with six assists and four steals.
University's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-19. As for Portola, their win bumped their record up to 8-19.
University does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Portola won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Vaqueros at 4:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
