Even though the Leroy Greene Academy Lions scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, the Elite Eagles still came out on top. Elite took down Leroy Greene Academy 72-57. Given Elite's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while Leroy Greene Academy is ranked 991st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elite's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lemack Bellot, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bellot has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Maisen McCleod, who scored 17 points.
Elite is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Leroy Greene Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elite will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against John Adams Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for Leroy Greene Academy, they will take on Westlake Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Brian Ash and Cobee Wesley.
