West Salem was led to victory by Ian Herber and Kaden Martirano. Herber rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while Martirano threw for 199 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
McNary's loss was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-0 South Salem and 12-1 Sheldon (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65% over those games). As for West Salem, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-4.
McNary will square off against North Medford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Medford comes into the match much higher ranked than McNary in Oregon (North Medford is ranked 12th, while McNary is ranked 103rd). As for West Salem, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against North Salem at 7:15 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oregon (North Salem is ranked 35th, while West Salem is ranked 24th).
