The Fulshear Chargers are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Westside Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Fulshear has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 25 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Lamar Consolidated 72-36 on the road. Given Fulshear's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Lamar Consolidated is ranked 1174th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fulshear's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ruke Ogbevire, who scored 25 points along with 5 steals. The match was Ogbevire's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Jada Morgan was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Westside came tearing into Saturday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Lamar 62-47.
Neso Anisiobi was the offensive standout of the matchup as she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Garlynn Grant, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Fulshear pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Westside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Fulshear have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Westside struggles in that department as they've been even better at 39.3 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
