After flying high against the Mekeel Christian Academy Lions last Tuesday, the Schenectady Patriots came back down to earth. Schenectady was outmatched by Albany on the road and fell 90-41. Schenectady was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-22.
Albany's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. Johnson hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Madison Nunziato, who scored 24 points along with four steals.
Schenectady dropped their record down to 1-11 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.7 points per game. As for Albany, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Schenectady will square off against Averill Park at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Averill Park will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Albany, they will head out on the road to take on Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Albany is ranked 12th).
