The Hondo Owls won the last time they faced the Crystal City Javelinas, and things went their way on Friday too. Hondo was the clear victor by a 38-14 margin over Crystal City. The result was nothing new for Hondo, who have now won five contests by 24 points or more so far this season.
Hondo's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan L gilliam, who picked up 93 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Daedyn Rodriguez and his 106 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Hondo's victory.
The victory makes it two in a row for Hondo and bumps their season record up to 7-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26 points. As for Crystal City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hondo will take on Cotulla at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cotulla will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 934th, while Hondo is ranked 412th). As for Crystal City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Poteet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Poteet is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
