The Crestview Bulldogs will square off against the Gulf Breeze Dolphins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Crestview has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Things were looking good for Crestview after they put the first points on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 9-8 to Tate, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Ava Secor made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Riley Copeland, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Even though they lost, Crestview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Gulf Breeze and Navarre meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. Gulf Breeze walked away with a 10-7 win over Navarre.
Jacey Reed made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Reed was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sally Alberson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Gulf Breeze has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. Crestview has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Crestview couldn't quite finish off Gulf Breeze in their previous meeting back in February and fell 4-2. Will Crestview have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
