The Grand Junction Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Palisade Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grand Junction is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Grand Junction had taken Grand Junction Central down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Tigers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 25-14 in the first set.
Grand Junction started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-22.
Despite the defeat, Grand Junction saw an underclassman step up: freshman Haleigh Blaylock had 11 assists and seven digs. Rylee Fisher also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.
Meanwhile, Palisade came up short against Fruita Monument on Thursday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered against the Wildcats since August 21, 2018.
Palisade was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 26-24, 25-14.
Grand Junction's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Palisade, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Grand Junction suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Palisade when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
