It was a good run, but the Meridian Hawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost to Clinton at home by a decisive 74-57 margin. While losing is never fun, Meridian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Clinton is ranked 50th).
Meridian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sebastian Hill, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. Hill is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Ralston, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meridian's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8. As for Clinton, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meridian will take on Warrensburg-Latham at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clinton, they will be playing at home against Tuscola at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Tuscola's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
