In what's become a running theme this season, the Valley Vista Monsoon gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 64-21 win over Shadow Ridge. The win was nothing new for Valley Vista as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Valley Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tysyn Johnson, who scored 19 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Dasovich, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Shadow Ridge saw an underclassman step up: Danica Lindemann scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Lindemann is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Shadow Ridge struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Valley Vista pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Valley Vista is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Shadow Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 17-10.
Valley Vista won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Maricopa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Monsoon are ranked 15th). As for Shadow Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. West Point comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
