The Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders will face off against the Pen Argyl Green Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Notre Dame-Green Pond is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Notre Dame-Green Pond hadn't beaten Palisades on the road since April 28, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Crusaders came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 11-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crusaders.
Clemente Cintron was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Jason Frederick was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Notre Dame-Green Pond kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Pen Argyl had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 9-3 victory. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Cayden Vishnesky made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Vishnesky was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Pen Argyl got a big performance out of Nick Haros, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Haros is becoming a predictor of the Green Knights' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 3-6-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jacob Martini, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Pen Argyl pushed their record up to 9-6-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Pen Argyl's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Notre Dame-Green Pond hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Pen Argyl, though, as they've only averaged .229. Will they be able to contain Notre Dame-Green Pond's hitters?
