After a string of three wins, Tyler HEAT's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They suffered a tough 56-30 loss at the hands of San Marcos HomeSchool. While losing is never fun, Tyler HEAT can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while San Marcos HomeSchool is ranked 58th).
Leading San Marcos HomeSchool to victory were Kendall Beck and Kayla McGarity. Beck dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, while McGarity dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. McGarity has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 12 times she's played. Madison Hurta was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Tyler HEAT's defeat dropped their record down to 31-7. As for San Marcos HomeSchool, they pushed their record up to 25-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Tyler HEAT didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-36 win vs. Aggieland HomeSchool on the 10th. San Marcos HomeSchool has also already played their next match, a 69-66 victory against Christian Homeschool Sports Ministries on the 10th.
