Softball Recap: Bonduel Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Bonduel, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Shiocton Chiefs with a sharp 11-1 victory on Monday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by nine runs or more this season.

Kallie Wilcox spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Bonduel let Taylor Rank and Tatum Sporisky run wild. Rank went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Sporisky went 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave Sporisky a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayla Reinke, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Bonduel is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Shiocton, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Bonduel is set to challenge their familiar foe Weyauwega-Fremont at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Shiocton will square off against rival Manawa at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
