Trinity Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though Trinity Christian has not done well against St. Marys recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Trinity Christian managed a 57-52 win over St. Marys. The victory was all the more spectacular given Trinity Christian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while St. Marys is ranked 74th).
Trinity Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chayce Adams out in front who scored 25 points along with two steals. Adams has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Hartsock, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Notre Dame can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Braxton County as Notre Dame made off with a 71-49 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Notre Dame has posted since December 12, 2023.
Trinity Christian pushed their record up to 7-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Notre Dame, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-7.
Trinity Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Notre Dame in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 70-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trinity Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
