After a string of seven wins, the Whitharral Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Whiteface 56-50. Whitharral was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Antelopes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Whitharral lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nomar Gomez, who scored 26 points. Gomez continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathaniel Sansom, who scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Whitharral's loss dropped their record down to 19-5. As for Whiteface, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Amherst the next time they take the court. Whiteface will head out to face Amherst at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Whitharral will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
