The West Florida Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 44-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Choctawhatchee. West Florida has not had much luck with Choctawhatchee recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, West Florida saw an underclassman step up: Amani (AB) Bartholomew dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Bartholomew has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Shania Beeks, who scored eight points along with six assists.
West Florida bumped their record down to 7-14 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Choctawhatchee, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Florida won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pensacola at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Pensacola and West Florida are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Choctawhatchee, they will head out on the road to square off against Navarre at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
