5A District 1 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Gulf Breeze moved up to 115 from 194 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A District 1. The Dolphins were able to make the jump by beating Arnold 42-14.
West Florida extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Bay, 38-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Gulf Breeze's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Andrew Creech threw for 98 and one touchdown and Carson Sharp had 35 yards receiving. On the ground Chandler Foxworth chipped in 86 yards. Randy Halpin helped Gulf Breeze's passing attack out by catching three balls for 33 yards.
The Marlins' Adam McAfee and Stephen Benedik have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback McAfee has thrown for 386 yards this season, while Benedik has seven catches for 154 yards. Chris Nemith's team's Creech leads the league in rushing yards with 272.
West Florida took down the Tornadoes 38-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
