Baseball Recap: Manassas Park Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Manassas Park's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Park View Patriots with a sharp 17-1 victory. Considering the Cougars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Logan Hummeldorf and Alejandro Rogers made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Hummeldorf pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Rogers pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hummeldorf also tossed a walk, which is notable because Manassas Park is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-11 otherwise. At bat, Hummeldorf went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Rogers went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Hummeldorf a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carlos Castillo Aviles was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Manassas Park: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-12 otherwise.
