The Fremont Packers will face off against the Kent City Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fremont has four straight wins, Kent City has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Fremont barely beat Holton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Packers blew past the Red Devils 10-1 on Friday.
The team relied heavily on Blake Zerlaut, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Collin Trouslot was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Fremont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 7-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Kent City fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Hart on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 7-5.
Kent City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Rodenburg, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Fremont pushed their record up to 14-13 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Kent City, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-19.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fremont has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kent City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Fremont beat Kent City 3-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Packers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
