The River Valley Dust Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 12th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 38-5 loss at the hands of Odyssey Institute. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points River Valley has scored all season.
Shelby Hunt was the offensive standout of the game as she scored ten points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Danica Slack, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
River Valley's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-14. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.0 points per game. As for Odyssey Institute, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Valley will take on Madison Highland Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Madison Highland Prep comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Odyssey Institute, they will be playing at home against Parker at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Parker's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
