The Castlewood Warriors were the 59-24 winner over the Great Plains Lutheran Panthers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Castlewood was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 43-42 to Great Plains Lutheran. Castlewood just can't catch a break and has now endured four losses in a row.
Castlewood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Presley Knecht, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Kylie Wittnebel, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Great Plains Lutheran got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Olivia Holmen out in front who scored nine points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Prahl, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Castlewood bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Great Plains Lutheran, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Castlewood will be playing at home against St. Mary at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Great Plains Lutheran, they will take on North Central at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. North Central is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
