Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for St. Petersburg Catholic

St. Petersburg Catholic entered their tilt with Indian Rocks Christian on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They had just enough and edged the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles out 37-34. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Barons have posted since January 16, 2024.

St. Petersburg Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kinsley Spoor out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 boards. Spoor is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Liv Geritano was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine steals.

St. Petersburg Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Indian Rocks Christian lost, don't look at Malia Stevens. Despite the final result, she went 8 of 13 on her way to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Makayla Kennedy, who posted nine points.

St. Petersburg Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game.
