The Workman Lobos will face off against the La Puente Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Puente took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Workman, who comes in off a win.
Workman took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Pomona 18-5. Considering the Lobos have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Sydney Rivera and Alondra Devora made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Rivera pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Devora pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. What's more, Rivera posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. At bat, Rivera got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Devora got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Workman got a massive performance out of McKenna Weller, who went 1-for-3 with seven RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those seven RBI gave Weller a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leana Sanchez, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Workman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .757. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for La Puente's offense. They came up short against Ganesha on Thursday, falling 16-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Giants: they've now lost eight in a row.
Workman's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for La Puente, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Everything went Workman's way against La Puente when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Workman made off with a 10-4 win. Will the Lobos repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
