After flying high against the Rittman Indians last Thursday, the Northwestern Huskies came back down to earth. Northwestern fell 54-44 to Norwayne on Saturday. If Northwestern hoped to take revenge for the 62-57 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Norwayne's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Allie Demassimo, who scored 27 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Demassimo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Maibach, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Northwestern has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Norwayne, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwestern will take on Madison Comprehensive at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Madison Comprehensive is ranked 503rd, while Northwestern is ranked 483rd). As for Norwayne, they will head out on the road to square off against Waynedale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
