Having struggled with four losses in a row, Charlotte Country Day School turned things around against Glenelg Country on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Dragons. The Buccaneers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Dehler Hart looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those two hits allowed gave him a new career-low.
At the plate, Charlotte Country Day School let Mac Summerville and James Lowe run wild. Summerville went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Lowe scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most RBI Summerville has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Rutherford, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Latin never let their opponents score last Wednesday. They put the hurt on Union Academy with a sharp 11-0 win.
Avery Booker was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Luka Kadijevic and Hudson Shoup did most of the damage at the plate: Kadijevic scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Shoup scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Shoup has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Bancroft, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Charlotte Latin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.
Charlotte Country Day School's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Charlotte Latin, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Charlotte Country Day School has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Latin struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
