The loss continues a trend for the Moors in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, El Monte gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past Pomona 47-7 at home. The Lions pushed the score to 26-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Red Devils had little chance of recovering from.
El Monte got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Felipe Taboada out in front who rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Taboada's longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another signal caller making a difference was Alex Aleman, who threw for 206 yards and three touchdowns.
El Monte's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB ten times. The heavy lifting was done by Humberto Marin and Yandel Ramirez who racked up six sacks between them.
