Calhoun Academy took their contest with ease, bagging a 56-29 win over Williamsburg Academy. The matchup marked the Cavaliers' most dominant victory of the season so far.
It was another big night for Chase Strickland, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 boards. Another player making a difference was Nick Lindsay, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven steals and five boards.
Calhoun Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Jefferson Davis Academy played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Andrew Jackson Academy an easy 81-61 win. The Raiders were down 66-42 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Calhoun Academy will have to contain Nasir Void as he made an impact in Jefferson Davis Academy's last game. He dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Void has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more boards the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colson Loadholt, who posted nine points.
Calhoun Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
