The Ballston Spa Scotties are taking a road trip to square off against the Christian Brothers Academy Brothers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ballston Spa is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Ballston Spa and Shenendehowa, and Ballston Spa kept the tradition alive. The Scotties were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Plainsmen on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Scotties, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ballston Spa got a great performance from Jameson Hotaling as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Hotaling has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, James Haughton was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kai Graybeal, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Ballston Spa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Christian Brothers Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Shaker on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bison by a score of 3-2. The Brothers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ballston Spa's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Christian Brothers Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ballston Spa has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Christian Brothers Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Ballston Spa was able to grind out a solid victory over Christian Brothers Academy in their previous meeting back in April, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scotties since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
