Baseball Game Preview: Weston Silver Eagles vs. Kickapoo Panthers

Weston has gone 8-2 against Kickapoo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Silver Eagles will take on the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Weston's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Kickapoo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Weston's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Richland Center hitters got past them. The Silver Eagles fell 11-7 to the Hornets on Tuesday. The Silver Eagles haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Isaac Jennings was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. Jennings was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Garrett Jennings made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Blake Bingham was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Kickapoo fell victim to Seneca and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 16-0 to the Indians.

Having lost for the first time this season, Weston fell to 3-1. As for Kickapoo, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Weston beat Kickapoo 4-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Silver Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
