Basketball Recap: Homestead Skates Past Palmetto with Ease

Homestead hadn't done well against Palmetto recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Homestead Broncos blew past the Palmetto Panthers 54-17. The Broncos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 32 points or more this season.

Homestead was led to victory by Alissa Brown and Caitylyn Gibson. Brown went 7 for 15 on her way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Gibson dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards. Gibson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 28 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Ardajah Fletcher, who posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Homestead smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Homestead's record is now 10-4. As for Palmetto, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Homestead will challenge Boynton Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Homestead is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season. As for Palmetto, they will face off against South Dade on February 6th.
