The Massabesic Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. Their tough 44-18 loss to Thornton Academy might stick with them for a while. Massabesic has not had much luck with Thornton Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Massabesic saw an underclassman step up: Madison Vanbrocklin scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Massabesic's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.7 points per game. As for Thornton Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Massabesic will take on Lewiston at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Thornton Academy, they will be playing at home against Cheverus at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cheverus is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
