Harlan extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 17-4 in the process. They put the hurt on the Taft Raiders with a sharp 12-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Aubrey Flores spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sarah Almazan, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Danika Anaya also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Harlan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.
As for Taft, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 16-6 record. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this game were averaging 3.64 runs allowed.
On Taft's side, Camilla Hernandez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the fewest hits Hernandez has allowed since back in February.
At the plate, Hannah Flores and Kaylee Sanchez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Flores went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Sanchez went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Harlan has already played their next contest, an 8-1 victory against Warren on the 15th. As for Taft, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-6 win against Brennan on the 15th.
