If the Manila Mustangs were riding high off their 78-55 takedown of the Tintic Miners last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Manila took a hard 72-56 fall against Tabiona on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Manila lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sim Brady, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Riley Browning was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Tabiona had a senior duo take command as Chance Lazenby scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and five assists and Logan Rhoades scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Lazenby continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lex Giles, who scored 11 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Manila's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Tabiona, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Manila will be playing in front of their home fans against Wendover at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wendover has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 488 points over their last seven matchups. As for Tabiona, they will head out on the road to face off against Altamont at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
