After nine games on the road, Mancos is heading back home. They will take on the Dolores Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mancos has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Mancos gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They really took it to Telluride for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-13 win on the road. That looming 55-13 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Mancos yet this season.
Mancos can attribute much of their success to Quincy Montoya, who scored 19 points, and Claire Goodwin, who scored 26 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Goodwin has scored at least a third of Mancos' points.
Meanwhile, Dolores' recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 55-32 defeat at the hands of Ridgway. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Dolores has suffered since December 2, 2023.
Mancos pushed their record up to 7-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Dolores, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Everything came up roses for Mancos against Dolores when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 51-16 win. Will Mancos repeat their success, or does Dolores have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
