The Cedar Creek Eagles typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Pflugerville Connally Cougars proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 48-42 victory over the Eagles. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pflugerville Connally.
Pflugerville Connally's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mekhai Bryant, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Bryant is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Wright, who scored ten points.
Cedar Creek's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Robert Conrad, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Kenji Franklin who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Franklin has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played.
Pflugerville Connally has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. As for Cedar Creek, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pflugerville Connally will square off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pflugerville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 646th, while the Cougars are ranked 255th). As for Cedar Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Elgin is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
