Pottstown hasn't had much luck against Upper Merion Area recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m.
Pottstown managed to slip by Norristown the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Trojans came up short against the Eagles on Friday, falling 9-1. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Pottstown saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shawn Pallay, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Pallay has hit this season. Another was Evan Draucker, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Upper Merion Area narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Upper Perkiomen 3-2.
Tristan Fanning spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Upper Merion Area is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 6-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, John Tomsho was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Cole Wellington was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run.
Upper Merion Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upper Perkiomen only posted a batting average of .174.
Pottstown's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13-1. As for Upper Merion Area, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
