Evans is 3-0 against the Knights since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Evans Trojans will face off against the East Ridge Knights at 6:00 p.m. Evans is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Evans came up short against the Eagles and fell 53-46. While losing is never fun, Evans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 475th, while the Eagles are ranked 188th).
The losing side was boosted by JaKayla Slater, who scored 16 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmen Roundtree, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, East Ridge came tearing into Thursday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Vanguard with points to spare, taking the game 43-26.
Evans has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for East Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Evans took their victory against the Knights in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 51-31. Does Evans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
