The York Dukes are taking a road trip to take on the Lyons Lions at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. York is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
York's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Proviso West as they made off with an 18-0 win. The Dukes' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Myka Matykiewicz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Matykiewicz was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Lyons hadn't beaten Oak Park-River Forest on the road since May 13, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Lions narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Huskies 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted against the Huskies since April 30, 2021.
Caylee Wagner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.
At the plate, Ava Jacklin was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run. Maddie McLane also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
York's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 11-6. As for Lyons, their record now sits at 5-7.
York's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Dukes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lyons, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will York continue to outrun the ball?
York came out on top in a nail-biter against Lyons when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Dukes repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
