The Laker Lakers will face off against the Bad Axe Hatchets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bad Axe took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Laker, who comes in off a win.
Laker is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Capac with a sharp 17-2 win on Monday. Considering the Lakers have won six matchups by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Lydia Smith 2028 made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Smith 2028 was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braylynn Witt 2027, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ellee Armbruster 2028, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Laker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capac only posted a batting average of .250.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Bad Axe and Sandusky have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Hatchets fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 8-7. The Hatchets have struggled against the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Laker pushed their record up to 7-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bad Axe, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
