Hilliard Bradley extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping them up to 17-3. They never let the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Mickey Moody made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
Hilliard Bradley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.
As for Perrysburg, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-8. The game marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.
On Perrysburg's side, GG Quiroz and Yesenia You stepped up to the plate in a big way. Quiroz went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double, while You went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was Quiroz's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sophie Halm, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Coincidentally, Hilliard Bradley and Perrysburg will both be playing Fairmont the next time they take the field. The Yellow Jackets will head out to face the Firebirds at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Jaguars will play them later in the day, at 4:05 p.m.
